D.Va is set to lend her fellow Overwatch hero Genji a helping hand as a Heroes of the Storm playable character, Blizzard Entertainment announced today.
During a livestream reveal event on Twitch for today’s Heroes of the Storm 2.0 update this morning, Blizzard creative content lead Kevin Johnson revealed that D.Va would join the Heroes of the Storm roster as a warrior class hero.
D.Va’s reveal cinematic features a lengthy clash between Genji and Diablo in Overwatch’s Hanamura map — which is also crossing over as a Heroes of the Storm battleground as part of today’s 2.0 update to the game. Towards the end of the video, D.Va boosts in to distract Diablo and save Genji.
“Battle over Hanamura, ancient home of the Shimada clan, with Genji and D.Va while you experience a world of new content in our game-redefining update we’re calling Heroes of the Storm 2.0,” the YouTube description on the official trailer reads. You can watch the full trailer below.
Blizzard also launched its Nexus Challenge 2.0 event today. The Heroes of the Storm promotion rewards players with Overwatch skins and sprays for playing its revamped MOBA with friends. Event rewards include a blue and white “Busan Police hovercycle” Heroes of the Storm mount with D.Va’s trademark bunny decal on the side, as well as a matching Officer D.Va skin for Overwatch.
As part of the Heroes of the Storm 2.0 update, Genji joins Tracer, Zarya and Lucio — other Overwatch heroes already part of the Heroes of the Storm lineup. A release date for D.Va was not announced, nor was her ability list revealed.
The four-week long Nexus Challenge 2.0 event celebrates a new loot system that uses Overwatch-style loot boxes, and gives players a second shot at earning cosmetic Overwatch rewards for Genji that were available in the first Nexus Challenge last November.
Update: Added sourcing and confirmation of D.Va’s inclusion as a future Heroes of the Storm playable character.
